For those who may need to hear this at this moment in life :)... Leslie see I finally got around to writing here... Got this in an email today...

The Oyster Man

That the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. —2 Corinthians 4:7

In the days of John Wesley, lay preachers with limited education would sometimes conduct the church services. One man used Luke 19:21 as his text: "Lord, I feared Thee, because Thou art an austere man" (KJV). Not knowing the word austere, he thought the text spoke of "an oyster man."

He explained how a diver must grope in dark, freezing water to retrieve oysters. In his attempt, he cuts his hands on the sharp edges of the shells. After he obtains an oyster, he rises to the surface, clutching it "in his torn and bleeding hands." The preacher added, "Christ descended from the glory of heaven into . . . sinful human society, in order to retrieve humans and bring them back up with Him to the glory of heaven. His torn and bleeding hands are a sign of the value He has placed on the object of His quest."

Afterward, 12 men received Christ. Later that night someone came to Wesley to complain about unschooled preachers who were too ignorant even to know the meaning of the texts they were preaching on. The Oxford-educated Wesley simply said, "Never mind. The Lord got a dozen oysters tonight."

Our best may not always measure up to the standards of others. But God takes our inadequacies and humble efforts and uses them for His glory.  — Cindy Hess Kasper

The Master can use what you have to offer,
Though you may consider it small;
His work here on earth is done through His children,
So give Him your best, give your all. —Hess

Do what you can where you are with what you have.

Quotes from Ravi Zacharias book - Grand Weaver

"The day that each person willingly accepts himself or herself for who he or she is and acknowledges the uniqueness of God's framing process marks the beginning of a journey to seeing the handiwork of God in each life."

God makes appointments with us in our disappointments.  To see the pattern we must take three steps involving the heart, the mind, and the cross.

"…having the answers is not essential to living.  What is essential is the sense of God's presence during dark seasons of questioning…." (42, quoting Calvin Miller)

"God is the shaper of your heart."  "God does not display his work in abstract terms.  He prefers the concrete, and this means that at the end of your life one of three things will happen to your heart: it will grow hard, it will be broken, or it will be tender.  Nobody escapes."

"The single most important thread in working through your disappointments is that your heart and mind ponder and grasp what the cross of Jesus Christ is all about."  "There is no pattern without the cross.  There is no Good News without it.  That is what the gospel is all about." (51)

One often sees a call only in retrospect.  This too is God's design. "God often reinforces our faith after we trust him, not before."

"I do not believe that one can earnestly seek and find the priceless treasure of God's call without a devout prayer life." "That is where God speaks.  The purpose of prayer and of God's call in your life is not to make you number one in the world's eyes, but to make him number one in your life." (70-1) We must be willing to be outshone while shining for God.  "We hear very little about being smaller in our own self-estimate."

"Pure morality points you to the purest one of all.  When impure, it points you to yourself.  The purer your habits, the closer to God you will come.  Moralizing from impure motives takes you away from God."

Got back to Delhi on the 5th and hav not gotten down to writing about my Kerala trip which I should do soon :). I leave again today for the Bible College to teach Hebrew for a month. Its real hot out here in Delhi (yesterday was 44.9 degree celcius)... but thankfully the weather is littel cooler tdoay so hoping the train journey won't be all that bad. Good part is its not a three day journey like the one to Kerala but rather an overnight train. So I will try and write a post from there. This time round will be staying with my cousin sister and her family so I dont have to carry other things besides clothes :). Do keep me in your prayers - wisdom and protection.

Time has gone by so fast... from one scenery and set of faces to another... well these days it changes every day :)... 12th to the 15th of this month we had IET leaders children gather for a camp. It was fun seeing them and let them see where their parents traveled to and who are the people in the office who called their homes once in a while and who are the faces behind all these names they keep hearing being thrown at them :).

I got to be a group leader and it was fun overall. At first everyone was unsure and shy and then by the end of it people were not willing to leave. They are demanding a 10 day camp instead :)... ha ha! we feel they gained something from this experience as we say 12 out of the 70 plus kids give their lives to Christ and several committing their lives to serve God... They were also given a box to collect money for the next camp so they have a goal and and will remember this children's ministry in prayer.

15th was the last day of the camp and the hottest in Delhi. Funny as we chose that day as the one to spend touring Delhi... yeah we were all tired for sure. The kids wanted more and yet their feet told them they were tired and the heat and sweat got to all of them. Its funny we are at another camp here in Kerala and i have kids standing around me gazing at the computer and seeing me type :)... Anyways 15th.. reached home around 8 PM and then packed my stuff as 16th morning had to cacth our train to kerala.

So that's where I am at right now with Joy Thomas uncle and family for one day camps for the youth in Kerala and 23rd to 27th we have a 4 day soul winners camp as well. Do keep it in your prayers. Will write a report later about it. Pray for strength and grace as we are travelling a lot and need it :).....
